THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN...

Kilauea Coffee Company

When most people think about Hawaiian coffee they think of Kona Coffee. Our coffee is much different in flavor, taste, aroma, and acidity levels. These differences are because of the soil, climate, rainfall, and varietal of coffee we grow on the Big Island here at Kilauea Coffee Company.
We invite you to try our Puna district coffee, grown on the windward slopes of Kilauea Volcano, in East Hawaii. We know you will enjoy and savor the uniqueness of our coffee as we do every morning.

What makes us different is what makes us better.

what we do?

We are blessed to have good soil, climate and environmentally friendly farming practices to produce these cherries. We hand pick these cherries at their peak of ripeness. Each orchard will be picked by our experienced local picking crews as many as ten times throughout the harvest season. This ensures only the very best coffee is harvested each week. These cherries are pulped immediately so as not to spoil the very delicate and smooth flavor they have the capability of having. Next they are fermented, so as to remove the sugar mucilage covering the bean. This stage is critical, as this is where bad odors and tastes can overpower the coffee. It is now ready to hand wash with non-chlorinated rain water and dry naturally in greenhouses. Again, steps that take time, but are vital, so as not to damage the flavor of each bean. After drying to to 10% moisture, the coffee is then moved to a climate controlled warehouse where it is kept dry and cool until ready for roasting. High temperatures and mechanical drying degrade the beans flavor. Lastly, we only roast what has been sold to our customers. Only freshly roasted coffee will be shipped to you.

Every single step of this process we look to produce the one perfect cup of coffee. A cup that can be proudly called “our best”. Why you ask? Why does it take so much time, energy and effort? That's easy. To provide you, the consumer with the very best in quality, the very best in flavor of our 100% Hawaiian coffee, the very best cup of coffee that can be produced, period.

We believe in our 100% Hawaiian estate grown coffee, as it is smooth, delicate, clean finishing. From start to finish; quality, care, and unequaled dedication go into producing the very best cup of coffee anywhere.

I say, “Life's to short to drink bad coffee...”. Our clients say, “...drink Kilauea Coffee”..
